AMSTERDAM – The Amsterdam Pirates routed Hoofddorp Pioniers 10-2 to claim its fourth national baseball crown Sunday.

“It is a deserved achievement after months of hard training,” coach Charles Urbanus said after the victory.

The two teams rod in balance up until the 8th inning when the Amsterdam Pirates scored four hits in a row with Markjan Moorman grabbing the last.

In a best of seven series, the Amsterdam Pirates won the last three games on its home court to clinch the Holland Series title.

“It is a total and optimal achievement of the entire club,” a representative of the team said in a statement after the winning match.

The Amsterdam Pirates claimed the 1987, 1990 and 2008 championships.
